A hardcover book that I got on a garage sale.

I am unaware of any other novels done by Lincoln Hall, but this one contains enough merit that he should have persevered in writing more.

For climbers the first chapter (of 38 in total), is the only real climbing related imagery/yarn, that leads into a depiction of events that occurred in Tibet in the early 1970s.

I found it a fascinating insight into the simple life of Tibetans at that time and their culture (to some extent), plus an observant expose of certain traits of human behaviour.

On the negative side, I found his character development somewhat lacking for one of the key characters, so that the relationship that character ended up in was strained/implausible to my reading, though this did not detract from the yarn enough to have me bin the book, but rather (particularly from about half way through), I found myself page turning fairly avidly.

Overall impression. Not a bad read/yarn, but I am glad I did not pay full price for it!
