This is the autobiography of Dougal Haston's climbing experience.
pretty straightforward read about how he learnt to climb in his youth in Scotland, then progressing to his experiences in the Alps then finally to his climbs in the Himalayas.
It covers up to his first attempt with Bonnington on Everest in 1971.
Although he succeeded in climbing Everest a few years later, this doesn't cover that.
Being a non-climber I still found it an interesting read if perhaps a little stilted in it's style.
For what it's worth, I enjoyed it. |

One of my earlier reads so thought it quite good at the time but not that interesting for rock climbers (lent it to my friend who didn''t connect with DH) |
