This is one of my all-time favorite mountaineering books. The writing isn't really up to the 5-star standard, I'll admit, but as a whole, this book is worthy. What really stands out is that this book was a trend-setter. Before this book, it was considered to be uncool to break ranks and talk about the interpersonal dynamics of the team. This book is all about the interpersonal dynamics of the team. And it's presented by one of the four summiters, so it's got the perspective of the victor. The photography is excellent, as is the descriptive text. Classic! |
