The Cave Clan (urban explorer peoples of Australia) have this set up (called ExpoBase) and it works brilliantly - it's really brought the group together not just in each state but has really pulled the group together nationally as people tend to travel interstate more for events they are excited about - you end up with this totally wicked community of people who are all active together.

Fields Used:
- Name of Event
- Short Description of Event
- Date & Time of Event (including time field)
- State the Event Will Be Held In
- Meeting Location Details
- Special Cautions Regarding The Event (any iminent danger or risks involved)
- Additional Details of the Event
- Flags (now this one is cool - basically flags [little quick reference picture icons] saying this is a Public Expedition, Expedition Cancelled if Raining, Bring A Boat, Bring 2 Way Radios, Bring Sleeping Gear, Bring Beer etc. etc.)
- Who's Organising the Event and A Phone Number to Contact Regarding the Event

It then goes on to have a discussion forum under each event for participants of the event to have their input ... I don't know if this is always a good thing :-S

It'd be great to see something like this up here - however, I'm hopeless with Java and dunno what I can offer other than moral support ... so here 'tis
