Come on! Ropes can take heaps more than sunshine (for short periods). Didn't do any super fast absails during the day. I'm pretty sure my belay device has reached > 100 degrees C when absailing on a hot day. When I've checked it the sheath has been OK. Haven't left your rope near any nasty chemicals lately. Check the core and make sure it's not lumpy. Set up a TR and have a hang on the rope to check the stretchyness of the rope (P.S. don't do this by climbing up and having a sit, just hang on it on the ground). If it's not working properly any more retire it and buy another one.
Sheath "burns" sound super dodgy to me. |
