In Industrial most people will have two lanyards (cow's tail in outdoor rec talk) permanantly attached to your harness. (You may also have other ones such as a pole strap, shock absorbing lanyard, wire/cable lanyard depending on the job)
These are dynamic rope (10.5mm) which is used for the abseil safety back-up line (your shunt), and anything else.
It comes down to choice of words - Cow's tail, Lanyard, Daisy etc. They are all methods of attachment via rope/sling etc.
The guy in Bogong probably hasn't been on an industrial site. Dynamic rope lanyard systems are taught by both IRATA and ARAA.
