Depends what sort of climbing you want to use it for - as observed the warmth for weight and packed volume advantage of down is limited by its moisture unfriendly nature (or is it too moisture friendly?). This is fine for sport climbing and for wandering around alpine huts, but if you want to climb technical alpine routes, especially in spring or winter, where you are hanging out on belays getting cold between pitches of climbing, a synthetic pullover that you can wear over your other clothes and which will cope with ice/moisture/spindrift makes you a lot more comfortable and likely to get up the climb. Primaloft insulation seems to be about the best going around at the moment -it is warm, light and packs well. I haven't seen much in Australia but MEC make some good jackets for this sort of thing.
