I've recently been in the same position (rope purchased day before resignation from job at major gear retailer) with a rope bought in 2000. I just checked for no discoloration in the sheath (unlikely due to storage area), no flat spots or inconsistencies in the core and no unusual twists or kinks from being stored coiled for so long. My rope has been stored in a tin shed so has experienced some major extremes in temperature but all was OK and the rope has now been fallen on, dragged through the dirt, abseiled on etc and seems to be performing normally. |
