I've used a teflon-based bike lubricant (Finish Line). It worked really well, but to be honest I'm not sure what else is in it, so as everyone else has mentioned, make sure you don't get any on your slings. I tried graphite powder at first, but it was v. messy and difficult to get into the right places.
