The Engel HSGM Hot Knife Rope Cutter is industry kit and the go if you're doing a lot of rope cutting/sealing. It costs about two hundred or so, so you have to be serious or a gear fag like me to want one.
A good finish can also be achieved by tightly wrapping ends in electrical tape before hot knifing it or cutting with a sharp Stanley knife/razor then using a lighter to seal. Remove the tape carefully, then hot knife/lighter seal the edge of the sheath onto the core for a good snag-free finish. Hope this helps some. |
