My BD Guide did this when it was new to a mate's rope, when other devices didn't do it to that rope. It then seemed to go away for a couple of years until just recently it happened again with a different rope. The rope was a bit dirty so maybe that resulted in the extra wear on the device. The rope was washed and then didn't happen. Might be that the alloy is a bit softer than other devices??
