That's my plan. Not that I'm good, but to keep working until I'm pretty sure I won't die.
I've done a bit of research since the last post, and understand Alpine bindings now. As mentioned, most of the touring I'll do would be bushwalking on skis. between trees, along ridges and plains, frequent up/down sections. Seems skins would be a MAJOR pain in the ahse in this sort of terrain; much better suited to the 'climb big hill, ski down nice chute' style of skiing. I'm leaning toward Alpine bindings on scaled skis? Is that a good idea?
The snow was very gluggy, and desperately slow in some places. And it was raining. No excuses though, you can't have good conditions all the time, so I better get good or get wet. I've got a resort weekend coming up, and I'm thinking about hiring either teles or alpine skis. My wife will be learning from scratch, so we can session some of the easier slopes (but stay away from the bumbly slopes) and I can put some turns together. |
