You could also get an ultrasound which might be cheaper than an MRI? That's what the hand injury specialist I'm seeing recommended. It was still over 2 hundred bucks but that included x-rays too. I have had an injury for about 8 months (too busy to climb anyway) which I finally went to get seen a few months ago. The ultrasound showed up the inflammation in quite a few areas which hasn't gone down properly and some thickening/scarring on the pulley sheath. I've yet to see the doc with the results though |
