If they do the right things, and you ignore them, you are liable. Same should apply in a gym. They certify everyone who is climbing by checking they can belay. If they then do it wrong, it is not the gym's fault. Nor their responsibility to hold everyone's hand 24/7. What next? Gyms liable for outdoor accidents for not teaching people correctly?
