I recently took an 8 meter fall off The Dreaming at Mt Buffalo. Once I realized I had come unstuck from this hold-less sandpaper chessboard, a thousand thoughts ran through my head! First I pushed off, grabbed my rope and looked at the bolt. Then I remembered what I heard so many times before. “If you fall off a slab, turn around and start running!” I was already turned so I started running. I took one stride and tried for another, but the rope caught just as I put my left foot down. The upward force of the rope slammed my foot against the granite and I rolled across the rock protecting my head. I was promptly lowered. Two weeks later am still limping with a bruised heel.

Aside from “Don’t fall you D*ckhead!” does anyone have any advice on how to fall off a run-out slab. I don’t ever want to do it again, but I’m not going to stop climbing them.
