I think that "biting" action is extremely useful when on lead - might just help a lot in catching those big whippers, like in the situation mentioned above. I myself use a Bluewater device (can't remember the model - they don't make them anymore, though) - small, light, thin, and jams up like anything. Makes for a very bumpy ride on toprope, and horrible for abseiling, but incredibly secure for lead climbing purposes. |
