Unfortunately my camera battery mysteriously died, so no photos, however the ice is in great condition. The upper walls are fat and blue and the big line down the front of the left buttress connects down to the snow. Everything is quite watery, ie much dinner plating, but it's all thick enough for decent screws.
I skinned up from Perisher to Charlottes then on to Blue Lake on Saturday and soloed the upper walls a few times in the afternoon. The weather was pretty rubbish overnight and on Sunday, coating everything in powder. So I slept in and nursed my blisters (mountaineering boots not so fun to ski in), then skied out sunday arvo. |
