We went to Ao Nang, krabi in September 2007 with the view of getting a boat over to railay for the climbing. First day we got there and it was monsoonal rains and not worth climbing. The second time we went there the weather was mostly good but did get a bit of rain in the arvo and the boat ride back was a buzz. I'd recommend staying at Railay so that you can make the most of the good weather when it appears and climb and if you want to do the shopping/dining town things get a boat to krabi or ao nang. Enjoy your trip. Would love some feedback on recommended places to stay at railay for future reference.
