Just got back from a 7 day trip to moonarie - great conditions, but we did have one cold session on hangover layback where the wind almost froze us. We stayed at bottom camp and enjoyed the luxuries of an esky with cold drinks, a full menu, barbeque, full sized poo shovel, etc. It was about 1 hr walk on day 1 and between 30-40 minutes on subsequent days.
The current guidebook is sufficient. Make a ticklist for your trip and then look on thecrag.com to see if there are new abseil points nearby. Comments on thecrag also help with working out if the climb is super sandbagged.
The water tank at the top was overflowing every day we were there.
My recommendation for a long trip is:
Day 1 - carry climbing gear to top, climb for the day, stash climbing gear, walk back down and camp at bottom camp.
Day 2 - carry camping gear and food to top.
Days 3 onwards - enjoy a sleep in.
September will be a great time of year for it! |
