Hi guys, I've recently added two easy but classic problems in the "Dairy" at McFarlanes Hill (aka Felltimber). The first is called "Morsel on a dorsal" (V1) and is a tall, leaning sharp arete located directly below the sport route "Bullfighter" (17). Stand start on low good holds and climb the arete all the way, slap for the rounded top, then top out tending left. Watch the landing!
The second problem is called "The Power of Faith" (V2), and is the steep, sharp arete on the right side of the tall sharp boulder jutting out of the ground directly below the afore mentioned problem, "Morsel on a Dorsal". (There is a distinct diagonal juggy line straight up the centre of this boulder which goes at about V0-V1). Stand start on obvious chest height juggy hand ledge, head right and up (good hold on back of boulder at 2/3rds height). Sketchy move to top juggy rail, jug your way left and top out. Both problems are pretty high so bring your crash mats. Both problems are easily identifiable from the main walking track, as each boulder is tall, pointed and "shark tooth" looking, about 30m left and down from the main, massive bovine boulder. Refer to McFarlanes Hill section in Eastern Victoria guidebook for general access directions.
There's still a number of excellent open projects to be done here,(some of the easier projects in the Eastern guide have now been sent), as the hardest current problem is only V6. Happy days!! |
