Hi All,

Everyone here seems to be raving about La Sportiva's (I think maybe because we are so limited in Australia with our choice of brands). I have had nothing but problems with this brand of shoe and because of my experiences with them, I think there are much better brands out there.

I own a pair of Lhotse's and and pair of katana's. My lhotse's fell apart on their first climb - the rand around the boot peeled off , on Ball pass in NZ which I wouldn't really call a climb rather an alpine hike. I also did some ice climbing in them on Ball Glacier and they were OK, but i wouldn't say I was overly wrapped with them (probably cause i was really annoyed that my new $600 pair of boots fell apart on the first trek/climb). I also took them back to K2 here in brisbane where i bought them, and they didnt want to know me.

My katana's, they also fell apart after only two weeks of rock climbing! So I don't know what glue La Sportiva use, but in my experiences with these two shoes it is rubish! So for my rock shoes i stick with 5.10 (have never had a problem with them) and my Lowa's for my plastics (which are more comfortable than my lhotse's, albeit stiffer).

Anyone else had similar experiences with La Sportiva? Maybe i just got the "friday afternoon" jobs for both the lhotse's and katana's. But this happening to both shoes, it is enough to have put me off this brand for life.
