As part of the rebuilding process in Marysville after last years Black Saturday fires, the idea has been floated for the development of a 22 km long mountain bike track from Lake Mountain, down to Marysville. The idea is receiving support from locals, and departments such as Parks Vic, DSE, Dep. of sport and rec. and various mountain biking clubs have been in discussion for some time now. Last summer, Lake Mountain developed roughly 10km of single track to link up with existing trails. Their efforts will continue this summer with the aim of making the region a top rate mountain biking destination close to Melbourne, while also assisting a region struggling financially after last years devastation. If you'd like to help, you can send an email in support of the project to Mike Wasley, a local climber and community development officer who has put a HUGE amount of effort into this project. He can be contacted at: mwasley@murrindindi.vic.gov.au.
Imagine, riding single track in the cool 'alpine' environment of Lake Mountain. Followed by 22k's of downhill bliss. Please help us make it a reality. The more letters of support Mike receives, the greater the chance this will happen. Thanks people. Jason |
