That's not right. Biodiesel can be made from other fatty acids or fatty acid esters a number of different ways but the final product will predominantly be a fatty acid ester. There may be a residual amount of free acid or the product may hydrolyse over time depending on water content... It is this free acid that other poster have alluded to as potentially producing problems. Diesel on the other hand is generally unfunctionalised hydrocarbon. |
