I am indeed glad that you had a bit of a laugh , One Day Hero- you had me worried that the overly agro posts indicated a deeper problem requiring therapy at worst or some free beer at best.
Given that others ( of much greater talent and wisdom than I) were getting similar treatment I didn't get too offset by it all. I simply suggest that if you want to positively influence people to your particular way of thinking then a reduction in the use of expletives and focussing on the point of the debate rather than individuals - is a much more useful tactic. This applies to the Wallwombat who sent me a similar personal e-mail. but I too had a good laugh at your exaggerated interpretation of my words - which of course is way off route. That is a tad dodgy tactic to use when you disagree with someone. I actually prefer natural , trad routes and I can't actually recall ever coming face to face a ringbolt whether it be JTree, Araps, Squamish, Skaha, the Rockies, Tinbeerwah , wherever. I would advocate for the best possible anchors though on any route where they are actually required - which is not to be misconstrued into the notion that I want bolts of any type in places they don't need to be.

Setting aside the agro behavior of a minority - this has been a good discussion with much thoughful and useful content from Neil, Claw, the Dr. and others. It is extremely healthy to question past practices, to test ideas and techniques and to change what obviously needs changing. But it is pretty much a given that change is a tough pill for some to swallow. Change will happen in any case, as it always does.

Ps. Contrary to popular mythology there are no carrots (or even ringbolts for that matter) on Australia Mt. :)
