But the rub is this. Labor votes for it; needs the Greens and Xenophon/Fielding to vote for it, or 7 Liberals. The Greens are opposed, ditto Xenophon, Fielding will choose which ever option gets him the most publicity.

Will 7 Liberals cross the floor over it? Well, with Right-Wing Abbott at the helm they might even support it. Depends on how literally they take the Liberal. Minchin, who controls the Libs in the senate ( and everywhere else it seems) is a hard line lunatic, but maybe hard line enough to oppose the filter. He's opposed to almost every other form of Government intervention. So, there's nothing set in stone, but it really depends on how the Libs react to the legislation; which will probably take 6 months to write.
