As much as I agree with your observations about the trees being damaged, and despite the fact that I thought it a strange sight sitting on a belay at Frog to look across and see multicoloured rap chains hanging from trees, and also despite the fact that I didn't feel comfortable walking off the top of Infinity after my partner abseiled as we only had a single 60m rope, I am not sure that bolting is the solution to the problem of damaging the trees.

On my only trip there I was also amazed to see the bolted rap station on the route on the immediate right of the decent gully. It seemed like a pretty poxy route and was clearly visible as the first route you see heading down the hill.

Nonetheless I think that the locals should provide the solution as they have a vested interest in doing a good job of it and if I had a say in it then the solution should be a combination of (re)vegetation of the rocky ground above the cliffs and replacing the existing sheaths on the chains more regularly. Not that I claim to be experienced in the ways of Frog, but I think that there remains a strong ground swell to make use of natural resources for protection and anchors at all costs - ie Rick White's legacy/dream.
