Thanks for the heads up Mikl, 2 years ago I would have jumped on this one. Sydney Water were frigging around installing an optimisation system when I left that tracked pump curves and energy rates against the shape of the network, and picked the cheapest way to supply water in real time. Cool system and awesomely expensive. However, there's big savings to be made. The $4m installation cost was cost effective after 5 years through savings in energy costs! If anyone is thinking of doing this get onto it, will be a boom industry in the coming years, and very similar to the Smart Grid (electricity) the Govt is rolling out ATM.
