Forgive my ignorance, I might even be so ignorant to have asked this before, however:
When you fall on a bolt, surely the biggest force is perpindicular to the shaft (mostly, unless the terrain is steep). So this doesn't really test this? I guess countering that is that the bolt is very unlikely to fail in shear is it? So, the weakest direction is along the shaft, where the glue/rock interface could fail, and if that holds, then the bolt must be absolutely bomber. Is that about right? |
