I'll put my hand up as someone who climbs and still plays a team sport - Cricket. I can understand why im in the minority here though, as at this time of the year, im training for cricket tuesday night and thursday night, and playing cricket from 9:30am to 6pm Saturday. Im normally climbing on Monday and Wednesday night, and all day Sunday. This basically leaves Friday night as the only "free" time I have.

This heavy routine was starting to get me down a few weeks ago, as basically all im doing is 1)working, 2) cricket or 3) climbing, and I was really looking forward to having a day of. Last Sunday, the dodgy weather put paid to plans to climb, so my wish was granted. I was bored shitless by midday.

I love cricket, but this weekend im forfetting my spot in the seniors (for the first week of finals) so I can go back to Victoria to climb. This probably means I will miss out on a spot in the Grand Final. I guess this indicated where my priorities are!

I only started playing cricket again after a 5 year break last season, when a finger injury means I couldnt climb. I think any half dedicated climber cant play a weekend team sport because it prevenets you spending weekends away at the crags (I can get around this in tassie, as there are more decent crags are within day trip distance than in Melb).
