Great advice guys - much appreciated! The slippage thing did bother me somewhat so it's good to know that it's minimal and that catching larger falls is not that much different to the shorter ones. I haven't belayed directly of the belay anchor as yet but my partner has been using this method. The use of different belay devices is interesting. I use an ATC - have used a gri gri once (that was at Altona gym) and really didn't feel comfortable using it. Once again...that comes down to practice. We will definitely be taking the time to try some of the things you have suggested. |
