I had the privelege of climbing with Frank for a few days in 2005 at Devils Tower. It is an amazing place and Frank was a masterful crack climber and all round great guy. His Band B where I camped is a scenic and relaxed set up and as well as paying guests Frank had a whole lot of strays like me hanging around in return for odd jobs. My job was to be Australian and say outrageous Aussie things to his guests and to go climbing, as he gets a bit tired of repeating the easier routes when guiding.
The summer temps can be as equally brutal. We did about 8 routes one day in 35 degreeC heat. I dont think I have ever been as dehydrated. |
