I'm pretty sure Richard's fall was longer then 'normal', although it was certainly a lead fall... or would be if Richard climbed 27. Give Simon a bit of credit for the pic FFS, there's great light, a red rope, slack out, right coloured clothing and a climber out the end of a cliff quite a few grades above his lead....... beautifully conceived and well executed.

Richard was certainly enjoying panadeine forte for quite a few days afterwards, although I can't remember if he broke his ribs or simply bruised shite out of them.

Anyone have contact details for Talking Richard ? He went to NZ prior to being requested to leave, IIRC...... Fark he was a funny bugger. I'd love to have a chat and a beer with him again.

That pic of Garth is also great, reminds me of the one of Lucas off Hanging Rock some years prior.
