I doubt there was heaps of appropriate material, getting content for free is always hard work, but I agree with you wendy, it could have been handled better.

As a contributor I was more than a bit disappointed with this issue, too. It wasn't so much the content that was the problem, but the direction of the content. It seems informed by a pretty school boy idea of what a women's issue should be... hot pink? flowers? girl power? a special fashion section presumably because chicks love fashion? The overall effect was pretty patronizing.

Don't get me wrong, Crux is a good publication, but all Simon's talk of it being on the edge and taking risks doesn't ring true. More like gender politics from 20 years ago with this issue.
