mikl,

yes, old sinny rockies routes. In the early 90's in a rush of youth-fuelled bravado a mate and I went in to climb (repeat) one of the lines on the southern side of the castle's upper cliffline.

We did half a dozen moves and figured best left for someone braver. It is lost in the fog of time for me as to how that would now relate to actual rock quality but there was from memory body belays on some routes, and a fair bit of soft rock. Not so much flakey cheese but soft in general. We went for the most obvious crackline. Access from Yadboro, camped in a cave I think (this may now - or even then - be prohibited). I think each of the major lines had been done. Our friends with us were most disturbed at the rock quality and strongly requested our return.

Sinny Rockies history holders would have the info. I think the 'topos' were drawn on the back of a beer coaster (could have been an envelope though). Bryden ? Whoever gave us the info seemed surprised to see their name on the FA so perhaps it was either so uninspiring or so terrifying that it was blotted from the memory banks ! Ask around your SRC contacts and something will come up.

I am unaware of any repeats of any of the routes. Frankly I think you'd have no trouble, but from memory it'd be gear that is wider rather than smaller. Leave the RP's, small nuts and microcams at home.
