Yes the boulders are good at Squamish - Marc Bourdon's Bouldering guide is probably the best bouldering guidebook I have come across. It sets new standards in that select publication field. He also has a Squamish Select volume out but the standard reference is Kevin McLane's "The Climbers Guide to Squamish" (2005). Neil's right - a rope is handy for some "alternate" climbing - Cobra Crack or the "Ultimate Everything" should provide for some challenges! A bit of an outdoor gomorrah, this Squamish - you can go sea kayaking in the Sound or grab a mountain bike and practice aerials without the hazards of falling into leech-infested billabongs! Plus the locals Aussies are unlikely to be outnumbered by insurgent Kiwis as the latter often take a wrong turn upon arriving in Vancouver and end up hunkered down amidst the limestone choss at Canmore. You will be able to sport your Wallabies T's without getting mobbed.

Hadn't heard anything about George Hanzel moving on from Climb On - that would be a blow to the climbing scene as he is an institution in and of himself. He and his wife run the shop - George is into rad trips with his motorbike and stays fit solo running up the Diedre route on the Apron of the Chief in something like 15-20 minutes. Nice to be blessed with talent! Last time I was there there was a young bloke who is wired on bouldering who was working in his shop - connect with the latter and you should have some stuff for memoirs and the legends hours at the Nati pub.

The Howe Sound Brew Pub - the main climbing crowd watering hole has TV so you will be able to watch the Wallabies thrash around in the upcoming World Cup with plenty of suds available to salve the wounds of the results! I recall the Canucks are in the same division as the Wallabies this time so this could prove to be interesting - All Black fans will be salivating with the prospects of meeting the staggering survivors of that one.
We set the table and they dine - crafty bunch that mob to the south of you!
