Mate having worked for Holden for 7 years and counting, i think i'm more than qualified when it comes to the VL, or any Commodore for that matter.

No Commodore prior to 1999 came with a Chev motor of any description, including all applicable variants and limited editions, including HSV's.

I should apologise, if indeed you were genuinely misled then i was out of line. A pet hate of mine is people boasting about cars they don't own, and have probably never even seen a genuine example in their life. Unfortunately given the information you have provided the car you owned was either an Executive or Berlina V8. The Calais had the distinctive pop-up headlights which neither of the Group A's had so if it was being confused for a Group A then obviously it wasn't a Calais either. Once again i apologise.

It also couldn't have possibly been a VL SS as the only SS's in that model range were Group A's.

For reference here are some photos of each of the VL Group A's

A good Walkinshaw (the silver one) fetches 40k+ these days, they are extremely desired by enthusiasts.

As was pointed out, maybe you were getting confused by the VH Group 1? Which is also adamn fine and desired car i might add.

If your car did indeed have an SB Chev it was an engine transplant, not original and i have a feeling someone may have been yanking your chain because a 357 is definately not a straight forward fit into the VL and would have been a mighty expensive conversion.
