Yeah, I agree totally with all that. Neil's line about rubbish reminded me of a "find" I made ten years ago, which makes me wonder if this not more usual than we might think. I was guiding several walks around Mt Difficult on the Troopers Creek/Briggs Bluff/Roses Gap circuit and we were bouldering just off the track in the vicinity of where the track starts heading up to the camping saddle near Mt Difficult. About twenty metres down off the track, in the scrub, we found several old paints tins, 44 gallon drums, and various bits of crap apparently left opver from the track construction - back then Parks in their wisdom decidd a good way to mark where the track goes was to paint helpful FB arrows on the rock! I guess the workers couldn't be stuffed carrying the empties out so just turfed them! The irony was not lost on my students either, who were studying "minimal impact practices" as part of their OE! |
