Good thread! There are merits to WINTER climbing in Aussie! Seen some lizards up high on the Organ Pipes at Araps - fairly impressive but the best was the seriously huge lizard -goanna(1m plus) down near the Pines that dynoed a tree like there was no tommorrow! My kids were impressed by the pic!!! I was impressed with the climbing!!
The Boonah vixen , in a rare moment of friendliness, once remarked of having to dance an interesting dance on a slab at Giraween when a brownie decided to test some of the route! At least with the snakes, there are antidotes - for Queen'sland matildas it is a no hoper - brain turns to mush and can lead to heart arrest! Grim! I , with tongue firmly in cheek, remarked that I would come equipped with a good Canuck hockey stick and confirmed that I know how to use one when something beady eyed takes a notion on my humble carcass. This matilda is not known for a sense of humor as well - I was committed to the George Bush school of environmental management. Sheesh!! I like snakes, I once did a Steve Irwin in my youth and caught a prairie garter snake and delivered it to an aunt's farmhouse kitchen. They were unimpressed! The snake survived the experience of my aunts! When in the jungles of Queen'sland always a good policy to climb with eyes wide open - no tellin what critters (matildas included) might like to have their way with you!
