West of Ballarat in Victoria is grid 54H and everything east of it is 55H. That should narrow it down a little.

The 6 digits you have will most likely be in the form of 123456

That convert to a typical GPS UTM/UPS like:

55H x 12 3xxE xx 45 6xxN

Where x are the digits you dont have.

Ignoring the high precision parts of the digits on the right hand side of each coordinate it leaves 3 digits that are unknown that you need (and the grid). 1 for e/w and 2 for n/s.

The 54H part of victoria ranges from 4-7 east west for the first digit while the 55H part ranges from 2-7. While the whole of victoria ranges from 56-62 for the north south pair of digits.

That yields about (3 + 5) * 6 = 48 possible locations (not counting ones that actually are outside the state due to the triangular shapre) assuming I didn't make a massive error in there somewhere.

If you don't mind sending me the coordinates I could whip up a script that would generate a oziexplorer or GoogleEarth set of waypoints showing them all...
