i've only ever done [deliberate] night climbing while roped up and with headtorches, and it is heaps of fun. i think it's really good for you too (provided you dont die); it makes you think about your footwork a lot more. easy ground becomes easy ground you could fall on. placing gear on easy ground doesnt seem trivial. (not that it ever should)

maybe the most fun i ve had was doing the bard with a friend from the states. actually, doing bard at night makes it worth its 3 stars. especially if you lead the top pitch on half a dozen hexes (to demonstrate to your cam-loving-american-friend just how cool they are). then one last beer together on the top, a few hours before he goes back home. (i can hear the violins now)

i've actually never done tiptoe ridge (!!! - having spent about 9 weeks at araps); i guess i'm just hanging out for a perfect night to do it; solo by full moon light, clear sky. one day. err, one night.
