Yes, the uni clubs are a great place to learn all the skills you will need.
We (RMIT Outdoors Club) generally run 2 anchors/top rope courses per year, and will have one coming up later this year.

Possibly one of the biggest advantages with doing the anchors course with a uni club over a commercial group is the follow-up you get. You cant be expected to learn everything during a one weekend course, so after your course you will want to be with experienced climbers who can check off your anchors etc..

If you dont have experienced partners to climb with I would definately recommend you look into joining. We have all the gear you will need (racks, ropes etc.) and there are climbing trips running most weekends.
