Just a couple of things I noticed while leading at St Peters last week.
*Some of the clips are terribly spaced, with deck falls a definite on at least one. Pointed this out to a member of staff and reply came back a jovial "just dont miss it and youll be right". Interesting attitude considering their recent incidents.
*No anchor points for belayers, Big one for me being a bit heavier than most belayers and the spacing of the clips.
*And the zizagging of route clips causing massive rope drag. Not dangerous, just a point of annoyance. Probably want to get this right considering expense gone to setting up lead wall.
*Most of routes are great, and lenght of routes is awesome, but hard clips should be avoided at the first couple of draws to avoid decking.
*A couple of climbers next to us had to wait over an hour and a half for their lead assesssment which took 2min. Customer service???
Will definetly be back there due to the great lenght of walls, and enough experience to assess these dangers. But would a less experinced climber pick up on potential fall at a clip. Maybe maybe not??? Still dont understand banning of gri gri with user problems being the problem 1) threaded wrong way 2) rope to skinny for gri gri and they knew. Would you ban a figure 8 knot if someone stuffed it. Certain amount of user responsibility???
