At the risk of being quoted out of context…
The following are possibly inspired by comments I’ve heard from others:

163. I was sand-bagged by a photo! Like, the route looked great in the photo but when I got there it was a pile of choss! Man, I was so pissed I couldn’t concentrate.
164. Posing for a photo shoot yesterday has left me trashed.
165. The photographer talked me into this crazy sequence “because it will look good”. Jeez! (Sand-bagged Ado a beauty w this one last week).
166. There’s a…
       1) local
       2) national
       3) World Cup
       a) bouldering
       b) difficulty
       c) speed
competition coming up in a few…
       1) weeks
       2) months
       3) years
       4) decades,
so I’m saving myself for that.

167. I blew the sequence because some short-arse had chalked up all these tiny intermediate holds that I couldn’t hang.
168. Some twit was so worried about their route being down-graded they had chipped off some holds. Doof!
169. I couldn’t commit because my belayer was distracted:
       a) chatting to/up the climber next to them…
       b) chatting on their mobile…
       c) being attacked by a rattle snake. (Based on a true story. Similar to 162 above.)
170. Nice route, and yeah I couldn’t do some/several/any moves, but I really want a harder project.
171. Nice route, but it’s soft for the grade and I really want a harder project.
172. I wanted to onsight it, but when I got through the crux I realised I’d tried it before, so I couldn’t be bothered.

And my personal favourites…
173. I couldn’t find a long enough stick to clip between the bolts…
174. It would have been too much trouble winching a stick up to the third pitch.

;-p
