The ethos of people on guided trips does seem different to the teamwork and camaraderie of an expedition. Its already been pointed out that people pay big money to be dragged up a mountain they do not have the experience or resources to attempt on their own. They behave very selfishly in this quest. Friends who work as guides also suffer the same arrogance from their clients, they can get seriously injured, for instance from rockfall and be in obvious distress, but some clients will still expect them to continue.
Yes, hypoxia and fatigue may bring out the worst in people, but there are many instances of it bringing out the best, and it may well be a reflection of the motivation for their ascent. Is it for the love of climbing and the journey, or is it the goal driven overachiever, intent on the summit as the only purpose of the expedition?

The commercialisation of climbing is only bringing crassness to the sport.
