Check National Parks Plans of Mangement.
They will often say that bolting is incompatible with conservation values of a park. I guess they've never seen anyone clean a classic crack by dousing it in petrol and setting it alight (to be fair, I've olny heard that as a tale, but it was from the perpetrator :) ). Said crack is now completely filled. Old classics never die, they just lose their status, I guess.
Some of these PoM's may even reference some written material on the subject. try Blue Mountains PoM, Wollemi PoM, Blue Mountains City Council staff - someone (Romfrantic ?) will remember the officer's name - BMCC will even have climbing in the exempt an complying development section of the LEP if it made it in (DLEP has just ben gazetted - I haven't checked if LEP 2004 contains the alteration), Garigal (re Barrenjoey), actually have a flick at Kevin's site - www.cliffcare.org.au and dig around. Kevin has written a few interesting things on the subject too, perhaps email him and even pick up that old piece of technology the telephone if you can dig up a number (hi Kevin !)
I dunno how Vic structures it's park-specific management so can't advise there. Good luck with the presentation. |
