A piece of somewhat climbing related information:
Just got through a lecture today on Anxiety, Phobias and Panic Attacks. Interestingly enough it turns out one of the methods used to induce the feelings of panic/ anxiety and overwhelm is injecting lactase into people and have them hyperventilate (amongst other methods). Treatment then goes onto to use interventions from this point to get it under control.
Made me really think about how climbing can be at times an exact replication of this process (eleveated blood lactate and hyperventilation). Certainly some food for thought regarding climbing performance there.
