If you stay in Blackheath campground you can walk to town and to the best all-round sport crag (Shipley, Glen, Porters Pass) in 15 minutes... that's about 150 routes grade 17 to 32. You should be able to find climbing partners pretty easily (they mope around town in beanies), and can visit the other crags once you meet some other climbers with cars. The other crags are tough without a car.... I imagine you aren't really coming for the trad climbing anyway, 'cause then you'd be off to araps, where the trad is better.
