This is truly most excellent news. Congrats indeed to Pat!!!
He’s been doing some really outstanding climbing for a fair while now.

Seems like he’s having a great trip. The other big news from it so far is that he earlier climbed two 8c’s (33’s). One of Garth’s, Broken Wings, at Batman Wall in Malaysia, and the other is Greed, at Ton Sai in Thailand. So he’s doing pretty much cutting-edge Aussie sport too - as well as the trad.

I’ve been corresponding w Pat recently and was going to write a report up but hadn’t got to that yet (so may as well post it here now). He described Broken Wings to me as “a very hard, very powerful route, only 10m long”. And he said Greed “was also a very difficult route, harder than any other route I’ve done. It is 5 star climbing up a long steep face which was very sustained climbing throughout, a definite crux at the beginning and then about 8b/+ to the end”. He told me that he whipped of after the last bolt at least 10 times!

Great perseverance and talent. Top stuff!
