Yeah exactly. It’s a low act. Leaving draws on routes is common practice and I don’t know how any climber could go to a crag like Millennium and claim they’d just found “booty”.

A Tassie climber had half his rack (at least eight draws and four cams) pinched from pitch two of Serpentine in 2003, so there has been a bit of this going on. That’s a lot of effort to go to even rapping in from the top! They left three wires though, at least two of which are still in the route - which, incidentally, has made it impossible for anyone to onsight it in proper trad style since.

So I can see how a trad route that is left geared up for ages might slightly inconvenience someone – someone who really cares about what style they’re climbing it in and if they have a specific route in mind. But if it’s a sport route then it’s not really going to be a problem! I’m sure a lot of climbers would be happy to find sport routes geared up. It doesn’t stop the onsight (yes, sport is "different") and it doesn’t stop you trying the route. Might give you another shot. Might let you get a bit more mileage out a perfectly good set of fingertips!
