My 2 cents: All safety issues aside, I have to admit that I find old, manky, rusty carrots and pitons much more visually appealing than shiny SS bolts. Of course, I shudder at the thought of clipping many of them (such as those amazing bolts at the top of Dazed and Confused) but they definitely have a kind of rustic charm.
